Saint Luke's Parish Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM)
(6th through 12th Grades)

The foundations of the parish Catholic Youth Ministry are based in the concepts contained in the statement Renewing the Vision (RTV), published by the United States Council of Catholic Bishops.

What is Youth Ministry?

“Youth ministry is the response of the Christian community to the needs of young people and the sharing of the unique gifts of youth with the larger community.” (RTV 1)

What are the goals of Youth Ministry?

  • Goal 1: Empowerment: To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today. (RTV 9)
  • Goal 2: Participation: To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community. (RTV 11)
  • Goal 3: Growth: To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. (RTV 15)

Junior High (Grades 6-8) CYM meetings are generally held twice a month on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Senior High (Grades 9-12) CYM meetings are generally held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Both groups meet in the Parish Center. Announcements are posted on the Youth Ministry bulletin boards in the church and on the St. Luke website. The youth can participate in ALL or SOME the Youth Ministry opportunities. They are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities.

Here at St. Luke's, we use the Reflect, Rejoice, Reach-out and Respect approach to implement the Youth Ministry program! We respect ourselves and each other through our words, actions & personal appearance.
