St. Luke's Catholic Church is one of the fastest growing congregations in the North Florida region. St. Luke's has served the needs of the Catholic community in Middleburg, Lake Asbury, South Orange Park, Oakleaf Plantation, Argyle and the surrounding area since its formation as a parish in 1982. The original congregation met in "The Little White Church" until the completion of the new St. Luke's church and parish center. The rapid growth of the congregation soon strained the limits of the building, and construction of a larger church building began in 2000. The magnificent church that serves as our parish home was opened in September 2002 and officially dedicated by Bishop Galeone on November 17, 2002. The original multi-purpose building continues to serve as the parish hall for events and meetings, along with the parish administrative offices.
The growth of the physical church buildings reflects the growth of the real Church, the faithful. What began over two decades ago as a handful of local faithful in "The Little White Church" has expanded into a thriving community of God made up of over two thousand families.
If you are new to the area, we welcome you to become part of our active and expanding parish family. If you are visiting the area, feel free to join us at any of our Liturgies or our frequent parish social and spiritual events.
We, the Roman Catholic Community of St. Luke's Parish, acknowledge that we have in common our belief in God, one Faith, one Baptism, and we share, through our Baptism, the common Priesthood of Jesus Christ.
Mindful of God's love and providence and aware of our human limitations, we desire to further our spiritual and moral development through Worship, Word, Community, Service and Evangelization.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we recognize and use our gifts and talents for the building up of the Body of Christ, and in so doing become salt of the earth and a light in the world.
